In 2018 we made the decision to move from the city and fix up the 80 acre farm after the sudden death of my Father-in-Law.  That was the biggest undertaking of our life physically and financially and still continues to this day.  It has always been a dream of mine to build and run a no kill shelter.  That was not possible where we are at but I quickly came up with the farm animal sanctuary.  After a few animals were brought in and plans were in place then we began the process in 2019.  Unfortunately, thanks to COVID, those plans were halted.  Unable to fund raise and to stubborn to give up the dream we pushed through it funding it 100% ourselves.  Finally, in 2021 after a lengthy process we officially became a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and could began fundraising.

Fundraising is another word for begging and it is the hardest thing for me to do.  Following that is being technically savvy.  But we have been fortunate to receive some donations with my limited begging skills and we are bringing awareness to our mission one step at a time by the use of teenage volunteers and social media.  They are the experts with that.  We are on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok with a you tube channel coming soon.  We have added more board members with experience and energy to help with fundraising events.

The land and buildings are "leased" without cost to the sanctuary by Harrington-Lee Farm LLC.  This allows us to use 100% of the donations to the critters care.  This includes feed, medical care, items needed for their care, etc.  We have typically 70 - 100 animals here at any one time.  Although dog space is limited we are always willing, if space available, to house one while finding a forever home.  Barn cats are also accepted if spacing is available. Black cats and special needs animals always have a special place in my heart.  We currently have a blind horse, blind pony, and a blind pig.  We have a few other animals with some "imperfections" as well.   We have spent countless hours as the owners of Harrington-Lee Farm , remolding or building from scratch, housing and shelter.  Winters have been brutal here so I spend the summer getting ready for winter and spring making new plans for summer.
